London Week Two: A Review

This was a very exciting week here in the UK! As you should now know, Marie hung out in Bristol for awhile and did fun things, but the excitement didn't wait for her.

This is a picture-heavy post chronicling the week through the eyes of Miles, Clare and Eden . Fun happenings include Stonehenge, Bath, top-like chairs, and the European The Dark Knight Rises premier. No big deal, or anything.

BUT YOU KNOW WHAT IT A BIG DEAL?

The sun, friends. The sun, which is out and about today, shining all pretty and bright and I love you so much, blue sky. So. Much. The universe is in on our plan to ask strangers to take surveys in the park today.

Anyway.

Pictures.

STONEHENGE

As I was before, the children were most pleased with Stonehenge. They even jumped for the joy of a world wonder, as I did those two years ago. Sadly for them, upon their return, I shared a sad and world-breaking piece of news with them that I my poor self had just been told: Stonehenge is a lie. I won't go into detail and disillusion you without your permission, but you can read more here. (This is not a particularly convincing website, but I got my info from someone who Knows Her Business and her business is old stuff. So there. Whatever. Don't believe me. I DON'T EVEN CARE.)

BATH

Pretty city, Miles listened to the audio tour with such avid devotion that he slowed down the party, but sights were seen, pictures were taken, and no one drank the water.

OXFORD

Because the world's a funny place, this is not my actual future school, no matter what I once professed. Instead - haha - Trinity is, and when I visited Trinity back in 2010, I didn't make once comment about wanting to go there. Oh past Marie, you silly thing. But, as the kids discovered, Oxford is so crazy impressive! It's hard not to look around and go, Ohhhh. I want to go heeeeeeere.

EUROPEAN PREMIER OF THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

I missed this because I was in Bristol, but the kids, eating Burger King and minding their own business in Leicester Square on Wednesday night, happened upon the European premier of the new Batman movie. They saw famous people, and stuff. One (of unknown identity) was signing autographs close enough to them that Miles says he could have pulled her over the barrier, if he were so inclined. (Don't worry - he's not so inclined and so I didn't have to bribe his way out of jail.) Anyway: Eden, in particular, is thrilled by the whole thing. Her and Miles were both apparently interviewed by an unknown person for an unknown news show. When Eden was asked about who the hottest actor in the movie was, she said: "ALL OF THEM."

When Miles was asked what he would do if/when Anne Hathaway came over, he responded with embarrassing honesty: "Wait. Who?"

OTHER RANDOM PICTURES

For your viewing pleasure. (Read: to make you smile/laugh at us fools.)

Playing in the top-chairs and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Pictures with the geese of Hyde park. I am trying to look like a goose in order to inspire camaraderie and friendship.

We're playing that game where you try to look like a statue. What? You've never played before?

And, finally.

THIS IS HOW HAPPY LONDON MAKES ME:
